Cosmological gas accretion history onto the stellar discs of Milky Way-like galaxies in the Auriga simulations – (I) Temporal dependency

چکیده
ABSTRACT We use the 30 simulations of Auriga Project to estimate temporal dependency inflow, outflow, and net accretion rates onto discs Milky Way-like galaxies. The are found be similar for all galaxies at early times, increasing rapidly up $\sim 10~\mathrm{M}_\odot \, \mathrm{yr}^{-1}$. After ∼6 Gyr evolution, however, diverse: in most galaxies, these exhibit an exponential-like decay, but some systems instead present or approximately constant levels time. An exponential fit averaged over MW analogues yields typical decay time-scale 7.2 Gyr. analysis time-evolution inflow outflow rates, their relation star formation rate (SFR) discs, confirms close connection between quantities. First, inflow/outflow ratio stays constant, with values $\dot{M}_\mathrm{out}/ \dot{M}_\mathrm{in} \sim 0.75$, indicating that gas mass involved outflows is order 25 per cent lower compared inflows. A behaviour SFR/inflow ratio, 0.1 0.3, rate/SFR, which varies range 3.5–5.5. Our results show continuous key SFR disc activity subsequent feedback able produce mass-loaded galaxy winds disc–halo interface.

Accretion of gas onto nearby spiral galaxies
We present evidence for cosmological gas accretion onto spiral galaxies in the local universe. The accretion is seen through its effects on the dynamics of the extra-planar neutral gas. The accretion rates that we estimate for two nearby spiral galaxies are of the order of their star formation rates. Our model shows that most of the extra-planar gas is produced by supernova feedback (galactic f...

We introduce a dust model for cosmological simulations implemented in the movingmesh code arepo and present a suite of cosmological hydrodynamical zoom-in simulations to study dust formation within galactic haloes. Our model accounts for the stellar production of dust, accretion of gas-phase metals onto existing grains, destruction of dust through local supernova activity, and dust driven by wi...
متن کاملThe Cosmological History of Accretion onto Supermassive Black Holes
It is argued that supermassive black holes in the nuclei of galaxies most likely have grown coevally with their host dark matter halos. A calculation based on PressSchechter within this framework shows that the mean rate of accretion of matter onto such black holes varies from a value about 0.003 of the Eddington rate at the present epoch to a value around 0.08 at redshift 3. The bulk of AGN ev...
متن کاملHalo gas accretion onto disk galaxies
Studies of the halo gas in the Milky Way and in nearby spiral galaxies show the presence of gas complexes that cannot be reconciled with an internal (galactic fountain) origin and are direct evidence of gas accretion. Estimating gas accretion rates from these features consistently gives values, which are one order of magnitude lower than what is needed to feed the star formation. I show that th...
